About DoityourselfDeb
DoityourselfDeb is single and is seeking males for friendship or a serious relationship.
What do you like most about where you currently live?
It has a cracking racecourse, good transport links which works for me as a non driver... I've watched too much F1 and TT and know for a fact I'd try to copy them on the roads so it's far safer for everyone that I don't.. ;)
Just to add here, loads easier than scrolling that yes I was on here briefly last year but I legged it after a couple of weeks, I felt like a horse at a sales and I wasn't best keen and half expected folks to ask to see my teeth... (you can tell a lot by a horses teeth)
Over 50's only please, it's a generation thing...
What do you enjoy most about your current job?
It pays me, albeit an absolute pittance and an unsual workmate, a wee Robin that lives inside the museum.
What are your favourite leisure activities?
At the mo it's DIY and chucking bits of wood together, having a crack at 'making' things. I'm 100% having a mid fifties life crisis.. I stand back and look at my wee garden gate I built and think it actually looks quite good.. No, honestly I do and I am...
I also love being outside, be it tramping around the countryside, old sites or coastal places then that's me happy, even happier if I find a bench to sit on when I'm knackered! 😁 I judge a decent day on how many splinters I get, or how mucky and clarted my boots get and how much (mud or cow muck) is on my dog. So given the choice of a day out in a shopping centre or sitting on a hill, it's a no brainer unless it's arts/wood/sculpture or flea markets. God I sound like an ole biddy here.
Indoors it's a good film, football, motorbike road racing and most other sports on the tv or I'll look for a decent documentary/natural world etc, then go outside look at my gate again... amazed that it works.
Where in the world are your favourite places?
Scotland, Ireland, a wee island called Rathlin and I've a big soft spot for Islay. If it's green I love it, added bonus points if it's also near a loch or the sea. Weirdly though I love New York too.
Where in the world would you love to visit?
Canada, Alaska and New Zealand. I wouldn't mind Rome actually, city wise.
What would you do on an ideal date?
B&Q? An hour mooching in a timber yard and even better if I'm with someone who can advise me whilst also taking the mick about me having not one bloody clue about what I'm doing? Joking, or maybe not...
Nah, a wee dander somewhere with no expectations, friendly chatting/banter unless you've legged it after 5 mins... I can come across as quiet at first but 9 times out of 10 I'm just taking it all in and then I'll waffle with the best of them as you can maybe tell by the length of this profile...
What are you looking for in a partner?
A best mate and a laugh, gods honest truth a proper laugh. The sort of pish taking, witty banter and chat. Give it and take it, I take the pish out of myself all the time and as long as it's done daft then fire away! It sounds twee but if you can laugh at the stuff life throws at you then everything else that follows just flows and it keeps the demons away. Obviously I can do serious chat too, when needed. Also someone that takes the 'doityourself' as DIY.. nowt else! :)
Add honesty, no stretchers of truth needed thanks and if anyone wants that they can turn the tv on and see enough of them on there.. But truthfully, who I am to say what anyone should be like, I've no expectations/judgements on anyone as a lot of the time opposites attract anyway.
I'm not looking for one night stands or quick 'just fun'. Cheers :)
What makes a good relationship?
As above, humour. You can have a crap day but nothing lifts it better than laughing/made to laugh. Sounds naff sure but tis true. Trust, kindness, patience and talking. I don't mean talking as in wanting to know every single thing in your head but if the chat and communication stops then everything else does too doesn't it? Being best pals with any partner is much underrated, we all just want a nice life best as don't we.
What makes you laugh?
Apart from my wageslip or my boss asking me last minute if I want to work overtime?
Daftness, pish taking, witty one liners, sarcasm when done jokingly mindst. My dog too, the daftest living thing on this earth bar none. Myself in a self depricating way, the 'beauty' of getting older is putting the recycling in the washing machine or a bank card in the toaster and yep, I've done it and worse.
What music do you like?
I can happily listen to most stuff, eclectic taste music wise and I'd rarely if ever tell you to turn that bloody rubbish off.. I absolutely love music, it can change your day and lift your mood.
What has been the highlight of your life so far?
Does recently building my front gate from scratch and hanging it count?
Nah, my lad all and 23 years of him. He's high functioning Aspergers and he's had it hard in the past but seeing him grow the past few years blows my mind with how he's just cracked on with it all and pulled himself up to be the brilliant, funniest and bloody amazing lad that he is and along with that him educating me and opening up my own eyes along the way too.
Living in rural N.Ire for over a decade and having my own horses. I was lucky enough to have had a lovely life there while it lasted
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Seeing my leccy and gas bill dropping... A lottery win so I can bugger off and live on an Island somewhere and live like Hannah Hauxwell with just a cow for company (tis a Yorkshire thing)
That my dog listened to me and actually dropped what decaying thing it is that he has in his mouth out on walks so I don't have to wrestle it out of his mush.. (Labrador, sees it, goes deaf and eats it)
Honestly, I've no daft expectations of the future as I'm a pretty easy come easy go type and smile most of the time. It'd be kind of nice if a best pal appeared though so I'll keep throwing the dice for a while.
Am I content in my own company and have I ever been married?
I'm pretty content with my own company, I think if you're in a relationship it doesn't mean you have to live in each others pockets 24/7. I reckon that I'm the least demanding of your time type person but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love seeing and spending time with someone. Trust makes that work and it's healthy that a couple have that for themselves I think? But I'm missing something now or someone, or it's maybe just this mid 50's crisis thing again.😁
Nope, never married nor much wanted to. I had chances but the whole idea of it gives me the eebies, a big fancy frock does nothing for me. I'm still a jeans and trainers type, so Marks n Spencers comfortable sandals and elasticated waistband skirts and blouses can stay on the hangers a few more years
If you read all of this can I just say thanks, you have the patience of a bloody saint and it'd be nice to say hello :)
