About DoityourselfDeb
DoityourselfDeb is single and is seeking males for friendship or a serious relationship.
What do you like most about where you currently live?
It has a cracking racecourse. Just to add here, loads easier than scrolling that yep I was on here briefly last year but I legged it after a couple of weeks, I felt like a horse at a sales and I wasn't best keen and half expected folks to ask to see my teeth... (you can tell a lot by a horses teeth)😂 Dipping me toe back in now, another sign of my mid fifties crisis maybe?... Neigh...🐴
What do you enjoy most about your current job?
It pays me, a pittance admittedly.
What are your favourite leisure activities?
At the mo it's DIY and chucking bits of wood together. I Think I'm having a mid fifties life crisis, I can't throw any wood away... scraps of tatty wood are my new favourite thing and yes I know that's barmy but I'm late arriving to this malarkey! Why did nobody ever sit me down and tell me about drill bits and blades before?!?! Thank god for youtube :)
I also love being outside, be it tramping around the countryside or coastal places then that's me happy.
Indoors it's a good film, sport on the tv mainly football or motorsport or I'll look for a decent documentary. I sound proper boring hey!
Where in the world are your favourite places?
Scotland, N.Ire, a wee island called Rathlin and I've a big soft spot for Islay. If it's green I love it, added bonus points if it's also near a loch or the sea.
Where in the world would you love to visit?
Canada and New Zealand. Green spaces win everytime.
What would you do on an ideal date?
B&Q, an hour mooching in a timber yard and self educating myself or even better if I'm with someone can advise me whilst also taking the mick about me having not one clue about what I'm doing? Joking, or maybe not... Erm no, a walk somewhere first as sitting across a table with someone you meet for the first time can be a tad full on. Walking and friendly talking works for me, then maybe the table sitting stuff follows, unless you've legged it beforehand :D. I can come across as quiet at first but 9 times out of 10 I'm just taking it all in and then I'll waffle with the best of them.
What are you looking for in a partner?
A laugh, gods honest truth a laugh is top. The sort of pish taking, banter and chat. Give it and take it, I take the pish out of myself all the time and as long as it's done daft then fire away! It sounds twee but if you can laugh at life stuff everything else that follows just flows. Add honesty, no stretchers of truth needed thanks, if anyone wants that we can turn the tv on and see enough of them on there.. But truthfully, who I am to say what anyone should be like, no expectations of anyone as a lot of the time opposites attract. Oh and a little thing, just because we are 'getting on a bit' doesn't mean we have to act it does it? :)
What makes a good relationship?
As above, a laugh! You can have the crappiest day but nothing lifts it better than laughing/made to laugh. Sounds naff sure but tis true. Trust, kindness, patience and talking. I don't mean talking as in wanting to know everything single thing in your head but if the chat and communication stops then everything else does too doesn't it? Being best pals too, much underrated that one!
What makes you laugh?
Apart from my wageslip? Daftness, pish taking, witty one liners, sarcasm when done jokingly! My dog too, daftest living thing on this earth bar none. Myself, the 'beauty' of getting older is putting the recycling in the washing machine or a bank card in the toaster. Got to laugh eh, otherwise you'd be signing yourself into a care home thinking the marbles had gone.
What music do you like?
I can happily listen to most stuff, eclectic taste music wise and I'd rarely tell you to turn that bloody rubbish off, unless it was something like boyband plastic fantastic mush... Do they still have those? Utter ear bleeding stuff!
What has been the highlight of your life so far?
Does recently building a front gate from scratch and hanging it count? Chuffed! Tis the little things.
Nah, my lad all 22 years of him. He's high functioning AS, he's had it hard but seeing him grow the past few years blows my mind with how he's just cracked on with it all and turned himself around to be the brilliant lad he is.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Seeing my leccy and gas bill dropping... A lottery win so I can bugger off and live on a Scottish Island somewhere and live like Hannah Hauxwell with jist a cow for company (tis a Yorkshire thing)
A delivery from Wickes/Howarth Timber? Putting a fresh new sheet of sandpaper on my orbital? My lad learning how to cook, turn on a washing machine or even just even lesrn to make a half decent cuppa? Joking... maybe.
Honestly, I've no unrealstic expectations of the future as I've had certain parts of my anatomy burnt if I ever planned stuff worth looking forward to so I take it all as it comes, easy come easy go type thing, no disappointments. It'd be nice if a best pal appeared though and my lad did indeed finally make me a decent cuppa, just once.. :)
Am I content in my own company and have I ever been married?
Definitely content with my own campany, I think if you're in a relationship it doesn't mean you have to live in each others pockets 24/7. I think and hope that I'm the least demanding of your time type person, I love my own space at times, trust and being best pals makes that work and it's healthy that a couple have that for themselves I think?
Nope, never married nor wanted to to be fair. Had chances but the whole idea of wearing a fancy frock and to have people gawking at me gives me the shudders as does the seriousness of it all. I'm still a jeans and trainers type, so Marks n Spencers tights, comfortable sandals and elasticated waistband skirts can stay the heck away, nasty just plain nasty!
