About treeman1
treeman1 is divorced and is seeking females for a casual relationship or a serious relationship.
What do you like most about where you currently live?
Truthfully, it's ok but I don't like it. I'd rather go back to living on my own than be living with my dad. It's not how I expected things to pan out. But if you are reading this and in my age bracket, you will know people who have had to move back home to care for parents with dementia.
This whole 'interview mode' I'm filling out now, will be totally honest, gilding the lily to get a date is pointless really isn't it. If I say I'm a multi-millionaire, Greek adonis who lives in a mansion, you'll find out I'm lying on the first date!
What do you enjoy most about your current job?
I'm retired and care for my father (95), it's challenging, but I do have carers come in so I get some time off. I consider myself lucky to look after him, he won't be around long, so I'll make the most of our time together.
What are your favourite leisure activities?
I like trying new foods, going out to try a new pop up venue, or make a new recipe at home. I like walking, cooking, being outside. I like trying new skills, tried basket weaving (I was rubbish) I tried some wood working tasks (turns out I'm ok at it) I am about to have a go at painting. I write just for my own amusement, the hell of it, Not poetry, mostly comic short stories, I have no intention of self publishing.
Where in the world are your favourite places?
New Zealand, no question, it was fantastic. Close second is Italy. However, I've been to a lot of cities and my home town of Norwich takes a bit of beating,
Where in the world would you love to visit?
Iceland (not the frozen food place) the country of Iceland.
What would you do on an ideal date?
First date, just a coffee, nothing worse than sitting for an hour over a meal, when you know the woman decided I wasn't her type in the first 3 minutes. Been there, done that.
What are you looking for in a partner?
I'm not at all sure I'm looking for a partner? My expectations are not that high, I'd consider myself lucky to get a second date after the coffee date! However, people I gravitate to are honest, kind and funny. I find people, both men and women with a great sense of humour are the ones I click with.I have been on a dating site before 8 years ago, and realised I struggle with far right wingers.
What makes a good relationship?
Talking to each other, and truly listening. This is a skill I have had to work on, alot of men struggle to talk honestly about how they feel. The number of times female friends have said of a problem they were having with a partner "I've tried telling him what the problem is...but he just won't discuss it." I'm pretty sure men in their twenties are a bit more open and less macho (closed off) than mine, thank goodness. I've had to learn the hard way, it's not healthy to not talk.
What makes you laugh?
All kinds of stuff, I laugh at myself often. Been to a few comedy shows, and laughing in a group is good for the soul. I wouldn't watch a comedy film home alone, much prefer to share the laughs with a friend. I hate racist jokes, or old school stand up from the 70-80s. Humour is personal, 'Last of the summer wine' never tickled me, the film Hot Fuzz' and 'Father Ted' I loved.
What music do you like?
Pretty much anything, classical, punk, reggae, Tom waits to Adele, Joni Mitchell to Amy Winehouse, The Cure to Akala. Not a fan of country and western, but then again I haven't listened to much of it. Oh hang on a mo', Elvis Costello did 'A good year for the roses' that was a C&W song and I liked that!
What has been the highlight of your life so far?
Meeting my wife and watching our children grow up, the marriage didn't work out but we gave it our best shot and managed 17 years. And we divorced amicably. I have no time for hate, blame and grudges.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
After writing all this, a glass of red wine.
Why have you written so much?
So potential dates get a good idea of who I am, so they don't waste their time.
