Solvent rational homeowner, living In Peak District. Looking for long-term relationship, with intelligent, articulate and rational woman. Trying to find a woman with an opinion and a personality. Maybe someone who occasionally reads books, someone who is honest and open and can negotiate and discuss issues without becoming aggressive or closed.

I am strongly interested in - Human Rights, Civil Liberties, Justice, Documentaries, Reading mainly factual and historical, Current events, Science, Technology and Writing. I’m also strongly anti-racist and anti-homophobic. It's unfortunate that I even need to write that, but I have met up with some pretty strange people from this site.

I am now retired. I have never been married and do not have children. Before I retired, I used to be a Design Engineer / Engineering Consultant for Gas Extraction and Gas Drilling. I really came to that field from Architectural Design and heavy building structures, I basically design gas wells. I read Molecular Biology at university and went on to do biological engineering and Genetics, before being asked to work for a Structural engineering company.

I run three times per week. 5k and 10k. I lift weights twice per week.

Stuff I read all the time The Guardian, New York Times, RT, New Scientist, Private Eye, PC Pro, Scientific American, Science, Washington Post from mainstream media.

Have thousands of films on DVD and Disk.

I guess you could say my music tastes are eclectic.

Record and CD collection contains:-
Blues, Sixties, Motown, Rock, Punk, Reggae, Rock and Roll, Ska, Jazz, Indie and classical. I listen to a lot of other stuff as well. Favourite artists are Miriam Makeba, Pete Seeger, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan.
Loads of Blues imports on Vinyl. I like a lot of world music.

Was intending to get into computer games now I have retired, but still haven’t got round to that yet.
