I am a retired electronic engineer. I was widowed over two years ago and now feel the need for female companionship.

What am I looking for on this website? A lady who is looking for friendship and ultimately a serious relationship. By this I mean meeting to do activities that we both enjoy and if we find each other attractive eventually going away together for short breaks or longer holidays, in the UK and possibly abroad. I am not looking to remarry nor live together, as I imagine at our age we will both have our own house or other dwelling. Nor am I looking for serial casual relationships. There are other websites for those.

I would describe myself as honest, loyal, reliable, kind, friendly, loving, with a quirky sense of humour. I would like to meet a lady with similar qualities. Personality is far more important than age or looks.

I enjoy a number of leisure activities including DIY, singing a wide variety of music from Mozart to 60s popular music, playing the ukulele, going for walks in the country, visiting antiques centres and collecting antiques, going to concerts, theatres, visiting historic places and museums, watching classic films, dining out, cooking for my friends (I am a reasonably good cook), going away for weekend breaks and longer holidays staying at good hotels.

I don't have much interest in sport apart from playing table tennis, playing darts (in pubs if possible) and ten-pin bowling. I'm an active person, not a couch potato and have no interest in sitting in front of the TV watching sport.

I have two grown-up children, a daughter who lives in Cambridge who has two grown-up sons and a son who lives in Manchester and has two younger daughters.
