*Due a knee replacement early June, so obviously won't be on me feet for a while, so happy to chat n waffle but nothing more for a couple of months. Love getting older... better than the alternative though eh! I'm happy to send photos of myself if you decide after reading my essay that I might be worth a chat to, base me on what you read first than on looks type thing? I've only got one head if that helps?
What do you like most about where you currently live?
*Due a knee replacement early June so all I'm up to doing is chatting n waffling at the mo, sorry. Be a couple of months til I'm back bouncing, got to love tbis getting older lark but sure, it's better than the alternative eh! Been offline a few months due to this that an tother but back abouts now. Genuine apologies to anyone who's messaged, I'll reply shortly*
Foreword... I'm probably going to end up typing a lot here so if you still want to read an essay grab a brew and a cushion... More I say here the more you can decide if I'm either interesting or a total waffler of pish and this gets stuff out of the way. Also photo, I hate my pic taken but happy(ish) to send one after a message or two, I prefer being in the camera side than the lens side..
Truthfully, not too much in York apart from easiness of getting from a to b cycling as I don't drive which is through choice as quite frankly it's safer for everyone that I don't as I watch motor/auto sports and it would go to my head and I lack their skills! Plus I like random away we go rides on trains and buses... So aye I'd much prefer to live rural or rural outskirts as I once did but tis what it is.
What do you enjoy most about your current job?
It pays me, not much but it pays me. Oh and I get to be up close and personal with The Flying Scotsman at times if that floats anyones boat. I work in house services in a certain museum, very working class down to earth job type thing, a bit like me.
What are your favourite leisure activities?
I love to be outdoors, be it taking it all with my own eyes or through a camera lens. Nature and wildlife are important and a big thing with me and it refills the ole mind to a happy level. I'm not an outdoors expert but I love it and if my boots/trainers are clarted in mud I'm happy dandering along with my camera bag and binocs be it coastal or countryside. Also happy to sit and watch the football on tv (spent a lot of years as a young one at Elland Road, don't judge me!) ,motorsports, motogp, road racing etc. I won't ever complain if you watch sport on tv, I'll join you! Also enjoy cycling, walking my mad Labrador who is total bonkers, love dogs, following the horseracing, in fact most sports apart from cricket, I still can't get my head around that? I prefer documentaries to soaps, I've not watched a soap in years and life has enough dramas without it being on tv in my living room. Happy to watch films too, just not chick flick type ones, nasty stuff!
Where in the world are your favourite places?
Scotland, N.Ire (lived there for 10 years) A small island off N.Ire Rathlin, pure heaven. New York which was very very different to my norm but strangely I love it there. If it's green I like it, if it's busy and crowded I'm inwardly cringing and wanting to leg it sharpish. (bar NYC)
Where in the world would you love to visit?
Alaska/Canada for reasons above but a lottery win would be needed.. Skye/Mull/Shetlands, South of Ire or North again reasons above
What would you do on an ideal date?
Honestly? It would be a joint choice wouldn't it so it's not only up to me. But if pushed,. a walkabouts somewhere, not a sat face to face meet up cramped to a table and chair for the first hour or so if that makes sense? Grab a brew/beer later maybe, if the person hasn't ran off that is... Just to add, never expect to see me in a dress or skirt, it's not happening. I'm a jeans, trainers or boots all day kind of person nor do I wear a ton of make up and I can be ready and out of the door in 30 minutes including showered and smelling nice. Oh and no enhanced body parts or botox, my lips, eyebrows and eye lashes are my own as are wrinkles and bumps n lumps. Just being honest here, definitely no plastic fantastic! :)
What are you looking for in a partner?
A laugh, above all else I'd love to be able to have a laugh with someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and who is happy to take the p**s out of themselves in a jokey have some craic way and out of me as well as I'd bounce off your humour. Someone relaxed, as in not wanting to be in each others pockets 24/7 and texting 24/7, I don't demand anyones time or nag if I don't get texts all day everyday. I'm not looking for a live in partner, I'm also happy going lengths of time apart and also long distances and just seeing where it goes but please no eejits expecting a wham bam as nope, that's not me so scroll on please if you think I'm up for that :) Ah one more thing, marriage... I've had chances but the thought of wearing a frilly frock and having folks gawp at me has never been my thing so that's not on the books, you can sigh with relief (if still here reading!) Again though to answer the question, it's a joint thing isn't it and even answering all of these this feels a bit me me me and I'm only typing this essay to get stuff out of the way.
What makes a good relationship?
Honesty, respect of each other be it person or their time, trust and having openly good chat and daft banter. Not feeling you have to be clung to each other all the time and being happy to be in their own company and space and not being totally dependant on each other, again if that makes sense? I've seen and been in relationships where brilliant and fantastic ones have been lost when folks move in together so nowadays that's not for me I'm afraid. Happy to spend lots of time with someone of course, just not 24/7 365 days a year.
What makes you laugh?
Dry humour in someone, being able to be openly daft and act younger than our years. Witty one liners crease me and even sarcastic humour when intended in a fun harmless way, I know we all say it but a sense of fun/humour is one thing I'd put above anything else. I laugh at myself all the time, not because I think I'm funny but because I can be a right eejit.
What music do you like?
Eclectic tastes and most music really, I can go from Skunk Anansie to Taylor Swift to Kate Bush, Gerry Rafferty to Gerry Cinnamon to 90's rave to 90's independant music then stick Bob Marley on. Not much a lover of real heavy rock or opera but if you like it no problem I've got earplugs. But aye, I won't complain (much) if you put some random stuff on if you like it.
What has been the highlight of your life so far?
Having my lad, he's 21 now and still at home but watching him blossom into the person who he is today is brilliant as he has had his struggles with being diagnosed aspergers in his teens but has clawed his way back to a happy independant lad again. Family aside, owning horses in the past was a biggie, sadly not anymore though. Oh and seeing a golden eagle in Scotland, if I get to see a white tailed sea eagle I'll blow my own mind! If you enjoy wildlife you'll understand :) Working on Rathlin for a wildlife charity, I washed and planted nettles, I live the high life.. it was great! Easy pleased so I am ;)
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Not sure, I seem to have lost my powers of foresight and not all women know everything... don't believe it when they say they do ;) Maybe my lad learning how to cook for himself or my dog learning how to not eat everything he finds on a walk would count? Or him knowing what "put it down, don't eat that!!" actually means so I don't have to drag whatever gut wrenching thing is out of his mush.
Am I confident and outgoing?
Once I get to know someone and begin to feel comfortable then yes I can be but at first I can seem to be shy or on the slightly quiet side. I'm usually just taking everything in and I'm genuinely and honestly happy listening to other people chat and getting to know them more that way but I'm not expecting someone to carry conversation type thing. Then as in like this typing, I can waffle on for ages... sorry! If you're on the quiter side that's fine too, I can the fill gaps with waffle and happy to just go with the flow of things be it a pal or more. I'm now going to shurrup and if you actually read all of this I'll be amazed, cheers!
