Hello, I’m a widower who enjoyed nearly 40 years with wife primarily in the South East before moving to Devon 5 years ago. I have two adult children and 5 very lovely grandchildren aged between 18-mths and 9-years with whom I enjoy a close relationship.

I’m semi-retired in that I continue with occasional teaching commitments and some voluntary work (which has always been a major part of my life). I had a career in healthcare across clinical, industry, the third-sector and academia.

I love being part of a couple, yet also realise that at this stage of our lives that’s difficult due to our lives, families and wider commitments.

I have been fortunate to travel extensively and enjoy travel very much including cruising. I enjoy nature and in particular wildlife and birds and as a photographer can often be found out with my camera and long lense. I also enjoy cooking and good food although need to watch my weight.

I have well developed emotional intelligence and are very caring and empathetic by nature. I do enjoy being with people and listening to their stories but am quite shy at first in social situations.

I am sociable, respectful and somewhat old fashioned in that I open doors for ladies etc. I am also tactile and enjoy hugs and cuddles when available. I love animals, particularly dogs (my own died about 18-months ago). Reading historical novels is something I enjoy as is watching something interesting on the TV. Concerts and other social outs are fun and I love people watching whether at a cafe or in a pub.

What else to write? Perhaps, as other widows will recognise, I am not looking to replace my wife but rather to again find a partner in crime whose company is easy and fulfilling.
