My childhood switched from bomb-site Birmingham to the hills of Buckinghamshire, and thence to small town life in Oxfordshire. After grammar school and art school in Oxford, I studied painting at the Royal Academy Schools, worked as an artist in London, married, raised children, earned money as a housepainter, continued writing poetry, retired, divorced, and moved to the South coast. After two years in Brighton, I settled happily in Worthing, where I finished my first work of fiction, Kinch, in 2015, and my second, Tyro, in 2023.
