About Mikado51
Mikado51 is widowed and is seeking females for friendship or a casual relationship or a serious relationship.
What do you like most about where you currently live?
I live in a fairly small town, its relatively quiet, and has good transport links to neighbouring larger cities. My home is approximately 2.5 miles from the centre, has reasonable shops nearby and the local pub just around the corner. I've lived here since 1977
What do you enjoy most about your current job?
I've been retired since Christmas 2016, most of my working life was with my local authority incorporating various roles from Architectural Assistant to Principal Building Surveyor and finally as the Council's Asbestos Manager.
I enjoyed all of these roles as they meant I was not confined to an office but would need to make site visits to supervise contractors etc. They also meant I could meet different people on a day to day basis.
What are your favourite leisure activities?
In my life I have played many sports, unfortunately all quite badly so now I have to be content to watch, which I do either on TV or whenever the opportunity presents itself going to an event.
My main sport was badminton and I became an umpire in 1983. People thought I was good at this and I progressed to international level in 1998 and the highlight of my career was umpiring at both the Sydney and Athens Olympic games. My involvement with badminton finished at the outbreak of Covid.
I volunteer on a heritage railway, enjoy photography, travel and socialising over a beer or two.
Where in the world are your favourite places?
During my badminton career I have been fortunate to travel extensively in Europe and also the far East so have many places I love (and quite a few that I wouldn't go to again) I love Australia, Prague, San Francisco
Where in the world would you love to visit?
I have never been to South America or Canada but nowhere is off limits so anywhere else that I haven't been to before.
What would you do on an ideal date?
Firstly I would ask the person I am having the date with, what they would like to do and hope that might coincide with things I like. So possibly a nice restaurant and/or theatre.
What are you looking for in a partner?
Initially I'm looking for friendship and companionship from someone who is caring, has a good sense of humour and is honest.
If the relationship progresses then a travelling companion and then who knows?
What makes a good relationship?
Honesty, being able to talk openly without fear of hurt, sense of humour.
What makes you laugh?
I have been told more than once that I have a wicked sense of humour, so I can see the funny side of a lot of things and don't take myself too seriously. I'm not afraid to tell stories that involve myself doing silly things.
What music do you like?
I like most types of music, from choral music, opera, to pop although not too keen on jazz
What has been the highlight of your life so far?
Raising my family, helping them to raise their families and the Olympic games
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Whilst I'm still relatively fit, I'm looking to visit places I've not been to hopefully with a companion who I like and get on with.
