So the brief - as I understand it - is to write an engaging introduction which plainly sets out my positive features and accomplishments, only without too much self-aggrandisement, while acknowledging and taking ownership of the doubtless vital flaws which have left me single and using this app at my relatively advanced age.

I mean, thereby hangs a tale. Sure, I could set it all out here - give you a little laugh, maybe a few tears - but then what else would there be to learn about me? Plus it would only get hoovered up by AI to make more slop for the bots, or worse still copied by an actual human who could doubtless contrive far more sinister motives than machine learning.

Don't get me wrong, I think saying 'ask me and find out' on your profile is so low effort it's hardly worth the bother of dragging your knuckles across the keys and pressing enter. True, in the end it's always going to be better to find out about someone the old-fashioned way, but you don't have to tell your life story.

The point has to be to make yourself stand out, to show that you can express a thought, compose a sentence, construct meaning and convey something of yourself through your words that goes some way towards making someone think your effort might merit the reward of a reply to your message.

So if you've got this far you'll be wondering what is this guy's point, assuming he even has one? It's only this: if you're still reading and thinking hmm maybe he can express himself, but I bet he's a dickhead in real life, well maybe you're right - I'm only a man, after all.

But wouldn't it be better to take a punt on a potential dickhead who knows how to express himself rather than one of the many other potential (or actual) dickheads that definitely can't? Plus I may not be a dickhead at all, of course. There really is everything to play for.

So I doubt I've met the brief, but hopefully you'll agree grade and comments. Please do let me know :)
