About H4lfcut
H4lfcut is divorced and is seeking females for friendship or a casual relationship or a serious relationship.
The short version:
I want to meet someone who cares about their health and sees exercise or fitness related activities as an end and a pleasure. I would like to share those activities as a base for friendship and hopefully romance lasting forever. I currently run and mountain bike. If you want to have a go but don’t own one, I have a spare quality trail capable full suspension mountain bike and I’d like to get a road bike. I’m planning to take up yoga, both the body and mind aspects. I used to climb but will likely now only head back to scrambling and mountain walking/running.
I’m emotionally intelligent and looking for similar. What I want to find is a friendship borne from sharing leisure activities that we both enjoy and then to allow feelings to develop naturally to a hopefully rest of our lives together. It’s a game for all the chips.
The long version:
I now love my usually daily cardio session so much that I feel diddled if I don’t make it. It ranges from 15 - 60 minutes if I go to the gym or 3.5 - 10 miles (occasionally further) if I’m out running. Add to that some mountain biking on the red trails at Cannock Chase, the intention to travel further afield for that and adding back in my love of UK mountains for scrambling again and now running and hey presto I look in the mirror and see a man that I’m proud of physically. Not to the point of obsession at all but man have I sorted out my life expectancy.
The challenge that I set myself a year ago to do the Snowdonia Marathon (finished in 5hrs 8mins) has worked a treat to retrain myself into the habits of a healthy life.
I didn’t get an entry for that race this year sadly but having run up and down Snowdon from Llanberis (2hrs 4mins) over this winter break to gauge myself for the race that takes the same route in July and then finding out that I didn’t get into the marathon I looked for an alternative and have ended up discarding the Snowdon race as well and entered the Snowdonia Trail Marathon which takes place a week earlier and has twice the ascent at 1685m. Ouch! Who knows, I might even find myself doing the 35.7 mile Snowdonia Ultra next year.
Certainly I’ll be doing extracurricular exercise for the rest of my life but please don’t think I’m a racing snake. I like to be a participant not a competitor. I don't think you and I need to have exactly the same activity interests or capabilities within them as such activities can be enjoyed together on that participatory level, however I do hope beyond hope that you have a similar outlook towards your physical health. I want to live forever and I'm working hard to achieve it.
If any of those activities suit you then give me a kick. I’d love to have a running partner, or for the gym to be a social, or to have a mate to go caning down single tracks with or a new buddy for time in the mountains. Maybe you have an activity that I don't do yet that you would like to share with me. I'm always up for a challenge. The beans absolutely are in the tank!
I must say that since finding my exercise legs I’ve learned that I don’t really want to be around smoking. It was in my life 4 20 years off and on but a couple of years ago the nicotine had to go. If you do smoke and don’t dream of or plan on quitting that’s probably a deal breaker I’m sorry, but good luck with your search anyway.
Drinking went as well, two and a half years ago. I don’t see myself doing that again either, though I’m happy in a pub with some company and a mocktail.
Household cleanliness is paramount. I don’t need everything to be meticulously clean but it takes daily effort to keep a comfy home for sure.
I can cook a reasonable range of food and am happy to follow recipes but I’m not so adventurous with trying foods.
I prefer fine dining occasionally to chain restaurants regularly, although I do take out a chicken tikka jalfrezi every week from a local Indian restaurant.
(Sidebar: meat is part of my diet but by no means a necessary part so if you’re vegetarian or vegan, as I have also been at different moments in my life, I would be compassionate and considerate of that and if we got on so well that we planned a future together then becoming either again is not inconceivable)
My music tastes are eclectic but I enjoy digital the most and wouldn’t be averse to a night out at a club occasionally. I also enjoy modern folk and ambient and even some pop on the back of my children’s tastes and my being the disco for my younger daughter’s school and the go to track for exercise at the moment is Tubular Bells!
You’re more likely to catch me with music on than you are the TV which I only really use for news, The Chase and occasional others such as Inside Number 9 and Black Mirror and the odd action thriller.
My tastes in culture include theatre but not so much for musicals, cinema for thrillers, thinkers and noir, ballet - Mathew Bourne because it’s quirky and Birmingham Royal Ballet because I love the Hippodrome Theatre and contemporary dance.
I like museums and places of interest such as stately homes.
I love charity shops and often use them as an excuse to go to another town for a walk around. I’m no hoarder though. The undiscerning charity shopper accumulates, the discerning charity shopper collects.
Work is good, reliable and I go in and leave 99% of the time smiling with pride in my work. It is just that though, work. They are demanding on my time so I often do 2-3 hours a day of overtime in the week and will fill in gaps in my weekend schedule with it. I’m as close to a job for life as it’s possible to be these days.
I’m an over thinker, generous, empathetic and honest to a fault.
I always look for the good and mitigate against the bad.
I will not be walked over and take mindful care to tread lightly amongst others hopes and dreams.
My attitude regarding humility, selflessness and being present now is essentially Buddhist and I try to bring those things to all of my interactions. I also try to practice non-confrontational communication.
If I had to boil myself down I would end up at “I’m a good man.”
I’m recently divorced and just setting up a new home. It took two years and I’m emotionally detached from my ex, there’s no baggage. My daughters (9 & 10) stay every other weekend.
