Can you guess which one of these “tall fishermen tales” is actually true about me and why?
Get it right and a prize you will win! It’s not a date with Chris Hemsworth in a Red Bow and rose between his teeth mind [I like to make wishes come true but, hey I’m not that awesome].
So…Ready? Pick the one you feel is 100% true but also, why?….The truthful event took place in 87.
1 - Work colleague arranged a team microlight flight; he was after all the UK champ and was to take us up. I had my turn and at around 2000 feet I looked over the edge of the craft; my immediate thought was this thing was being held up by rubber elastic bands in a match box and I wanted down ASAP [scared out of my wits].
2 - Doing a favour for my Grandad; he wanted wires near the fuse box tidied up. No worries; so, after some consideration, sporting my cutters I set about my aims.
However; my 1st cut; I lit up in a blue light and the cutters melted as I had just put them thru the mains.
But I lived to tell the tale after getting the full zap direct from the mains with not a scratch.
Guess I gave my Healing guide a bit of a trauma that day!
3 - Weeks into my first job, I was sent to London to attend a computer course.
For the 1st time I ventured in the famous underground and found the place where the famous scene in American Werewolf was filmed.
In awe I mooched about almost lost and getting very late so decided to head back; and left Kings Cross station sometime after 7pm back to my hotel.
The following morning, I heard on the news that there had been a fire at the station mere minutes after I had left….
Talk about wrong place at the right time?
4 - Booze Cruise the Sun Newspaper said and me and my best friend Shaun thought; we could make a killing re-selling cheap beer.
I mean, Sun was offering crossings from only a pound so; what could we lose? By the time we had applied; there was only limited options and the one return was via Zeebrugge, a mid evening crossing.
This was well out of our way; not ideal, but could be an adventure? Our journey however was thwarted as Shaun’s car had a mechanical failure on the day we were due down to Dover ending our dreams to become beer tycoon millionaires.
Later we heard our return ship the Herald Of Free Enterprise had sunk.
I kept those tickets for years later.
But, that’s one mechanical failure we both were thankful of!.
