I think my greatest passion is music and I'm fond of quoting Nietzsche who declared, "Life without music would be an error." Well I certainly think life without music would be a much greyer affair and I'm forever enjoying all the colour it brings. I listen to all sorts, anything from classical to pop or anything from heavy metal to house. My taste is very varied indeed.
Anyway, I think I'd say in some ways I'm a regular bloke really. For one thing I like watching sport, especially football and cricket. But I also have a more cerebral side and I'm something of a bibliophile (a lover of books). I read novels, a touch of drama and poetry, and I read plenty of non fiction - in particular philosophy and history. I'm also in the process of writing a book of my own, a novel which draws extensively on my recollections of my younger days.
With regards my politics I would describe them as basicaIly liberal left, although my political thinking is quite eclectic and fluid. Of course there is the constant flow of current affairs and this is something I do like to keep up with. In order to do so I buy newspapers (but not tabloids) and a friend also passes on to me his copies of the Private Eye. I sometimes read the New Scientist magazine as well.
With regards religion whilst I have none it is something which does interest me. Actually I think these days people are more likely to refer to themselves as 'spiritual' rather than religious. Perhaps the decline of religion has left a vacancy in peoples' souls? I do not refer to myself as 'spiritual' but I do work with self help ideas which can be spoken of in terms of spirituality. To be candid, I have mental health issues and I seek to supplement the medication I take with psychological/spiritual approaches. I should say the medication keeps this loony pretty much on the path (Pink Floyd fans amongst you will know all about keeping those loonies off the grass) but due to my condition it is not really possible for me to work. That said, I am afforded the freedom to pursue my ambition to 'make it' as a writer.
What else? Well I like my creature comforts and I'm not one for roughing it in a tent half way up a mountain. I am, however, someone who likes time spent in a bar with good company and I enjoy a good flow of vibrant and intelligent conversation. When I feel comfortable in a social situation I'm an outward going person, although I also have the 'inner' resources to manage plenty of time spent on my own.
But I guess I'm here searching for a woman to make that connection with. Well I'm looking for someone who has a warm heart and a progressive and inquiring mind. Someone who has a nice smile. And whilst I'm a person who likes intellectual conversation, I want a woman with whom I could share lots of fun, passion and tenderness too. Ideally we'd have an excellent all round communication with each other. Poor communication can cause a relationship to falter, but if a couple get it right they can share loads of amazing times together. I do know, of course, there is more to a serious relationship than just letting the good times roll. And I want to say I am looking for 'the one', not just anyone, which means I want someone who, if the chips were down, I would want to be there for...
So anyway, if you think you might be interested send me a message and let's see where that takes us. Who knows? It might really be worth finding out...
