Today has been a good day. I've been reading some good books and listening to some luxurious jazz. Well the world might be a whirlpool of insanity but today, in my flat, I've felt myself to be in my own little enclave of happiness.
Anyway, I'd say I'm something of an intellectual and I like to read quite widely in order to cultivate my intellect. Literature I read for enjoyment, though for me the pleasure literature brings is one which does incorporate intellectual enrichment. Well I read newspapers too and they help me keep up with current affairs. A friend of mine also passes on to me his copies of the Private Eye. I would say my politics are basically liberal and left wing, although to a degree my political thinking is fluid. There are idealistic threads to my thought, however I do tend to be pessimistic about the future. Anyway, with regards the religious and spiritual side of life it does engage my interest, but I should say I'm particularly interested in philosophy. Well I suppose philosophy deals with everything really...ethics, politics, art, language, science...Actually in the end, I guess, all things are interrelated.
I should probably mention that I have long term mental health issues. Many years ago my problems were severe and I was hospitalized several times. These days the medication keeps this loony pretty much on the path (Pink Floyd fans amonst you will appreciate this reference). But I should add that to also help keep me on the path I don't work. Well I guess this gives me the freedom to live a bohemian lifestyle (and spend late nights reading, thinking and writing)
I'd say I'm a fairly introspective person and so I will often turn my thoughts inward and reflect upon my 'self'. However, in the right company, I'm also quite outward going and I can be a pretty lively talker at times. Well my conversation can tend to be intellectual, but saying this I'm not a quirky, eccentric sort.
I'd say I'm a reasonably down to earth person in fact. I'm someone who could be described as sensible. And so, therefore, I tend towards being a realist rather than a romantic. Having said this, I do believe in true love. It's just that as a realist I recognise relationships have to be worked at
Anyway, I'm here because I want to find someone with whom to build a serious and lasting relationship.
If you like football and love cricket that'd be a bonus, although I think separate interests are good. In healthy relationships two people don't try to fuse together into one. This is a dynamic of obsession. In fact ideally a couple enhance each other as individuals I think. Of course there does have to be a connectivity. Well I want to find someone I'm on the same mental wavelengths with, which would allow us to have great communication. However, I think most importantly in a serious relationship there has to be a bond, on an emotional level, of commitment. Meaning one of you doesn't p**s off if things turn tough. That said, the emotional life a couple share can be very pleasurable and I do want to be with a woman I can enjoy lots of passion and tenderness with.
So anyway, if this profile tickles your curiosity, why not send me a message and we can see where that takes us. Who knows? It might really be worth finding out xx
