In some ways I'm a regular bloke. I like to watch my team Liverpool play in the pub with friends. But I do have a more cerebral side and I avidly devour as many books as I can...literature, poetry, drama, philosophy, history and other things besides. I wouldn't exactly say that I'm a bibliophile however. It's more of a love hate relationship that I have with books, oppressing me as they do with their demands to be read.
Even more than books though my great passion is music. Give me anything from Rachmaninoff to the Rolling Stones. Or anything from Dave Brubeck to Depeche Mode. If music is an intoxicant I'm forever drugging myself with it. I think that Nietzsche had a point when he said, "Life without music would be an error"
(I just want to say by the way that I don't like cricket. I love it!)
With regards my politics they are basically liberal left although to a degree my political thinking is quite eclectic and fluid. As for religion while I have none it is something that does interest me. Actually I think that people these days are more likely to refer to themselves as 'spiritual' rather than religious. Perhaps the decline of traditional religion has left a vacancy in peoples' souls?
Well anyway I often stay up late and I'm not particularly fond of mornings. So if you're the sort of person who likes to be up at 2am having intellectual discussion about, say, the state of the nation or just what this thing called life, if anything, is for then maybe you've come to the right place. I am looking for a serious relationship with someone and I must say that I'd definitely want a really vibrant mental connectivity to be part of that.
But if I found the right woman I'd want us to share lots of fun, passion and tenderness too, as well as ideas. More prosaically it'd also be helpful if we were efficient in finding compromises - "Okay, I'll do the washing up if you clean out the fridge" etc. If compromise is the bread and butter of a relationship though, hopefully we'd get to spread loads of lovely jam on top and enjoy countless wonderful times together. Ideally we'd also enhance each other, we'd enable each other to grow as human beings.
I should say that due to the fact that I have mental health problems I don't work. But this does give me the freedom to study as well as pursue my aspiration to 'make it' as a writer. Well medication keeps this loony on the path, though it can leave me feeling tired sometimes. Also I'm not always brimming with positivity and sometimes my glass can look decidely half empty. But let's be honest, for all of us, to a greater or lesser degree, as we journey through life that glass will acquire some chips and cracks in it. After all, no life affords a perfectly smooth ride.
Anyway, I'm here giving online dating a go because I'm of the belief that my life would be much enriched by having that very particular someone in it for me to love and be loved by. Therefore I'm here searching for 'the one,' that is my best friend, my soul mate and my lover. So if you have a warm heart and a progressive and inquiring mind, if there's a bit of spark there between us, then I'd very much like to explore with you the possibility of us spending our lives together.
