I'm a lecturer in film studies. Like to read: my head says Private Eye but my heart says Viz - that should speak volumes. My work is creative, engaging, stimulating and some would even say useful - and that is all you can ask for. I love writing and I love teaching. Ditto walking, reading, gym, socialising, films, galleries, museums, and, very occasionally, plays. In a vain attempt to recapture my frivolously squandered youth, I've taken up playing pop music in a band again. (Yeah, I play the guitar, like every-bloody-one else!) On an ideal date, we'd tour the lowlights of Soho high on crystal meth, then go for a nice cup of tea to ease the grinding come-down and life-alteringly sordid memories. Not really. It doesn't matter if it's two happy people, does it? I'm looking for Niceness. Fuzzy niceness. And a pretty good brain. And a quite good-looking face (because I'm shallow, like everyone else, and because to be honest the unavoidable nature of Internet dating - at least before you meet - is like some sort of Darwinian shopping list, so I might as well put it down). And something to talk about but also that feeling that it is totally ok to shut up now and again. And let's not actually forget LOVE. The highlight of my life so far* has been completing Monkey Island 3. And having my third book published. Which incidentally is available in all good bookshops. And some bad ones. Ha. Ha. Ha. Guffaw! Currently, I'm writing a pop-cultural history of musicians acting in movies, from Sinatra to the Jonas Brothers.
*Not really true - I have a little boy, who lives with his mum.
